We have arranged three different and unique food photography workshops that will not only improve your photography, but will make you a better chef too! so here are the workshops dates:
- Masterclass in Food Photography – Granville Island – May 15 2016Join Bill and Barry on a fun day of food and photography. After a brief overview of the course and content we will head to the Granville Island Public Market to get some produce shots and shop for ingredients for the class. Returning to the classroom we will create dishes and plating techniques to illustrate the key concepts of good food photography. Lunch will be provided and we will get to sample the dishes created for the shoots.
- A walk on the wild side – Foraging and photography – Tofino – June 11 and 12 2016On day 1 we start with a visit to the beaches and forests of Pacific Rim National Park. Shoreline walk and nature tour of edible seaweeds, shellfish and shore plants. Visit to the forest to see edible wild plants and an overview of important First Nations plants and food technology. The next day consists of a class room session using local wild and foraged products. We will go over the basic concepts of food styling but focus more on creating plated shots of products and finished dishes. Products will include seaweed, local seafood and foraged wild foods. Bill will demonstrate a few recipes and we will get to photograph and sample the results.
- The Ultimate Wild Mushroom Experience – Foraging and Photography – Deerholme Farm – November 5 and 6 2016
Join chef and mycologist Bill Jones, Author of the Deerholme Mushroom and Foraging Books. We will take a walk in the forests of the Cowichan Valley to explore the fertile mushroom terrain of the area. We will be in areas that are productive for mushroom foraging and will have a chance to learn about the various edible and poisonous mushroom types and photograph them in the field. On Day 2 we feature a hands-on food styling session working with a wide variety of wild mushrooms. Bill will demonstrate a few mushroom based dishes and feed the group a lunch based on local products, wild mushrooms and global food styles.
